What you looking for, you looking with.

When we search for something, we often do so from a place of neediness, desperation, or scarcity.

Charlotte from Sex and the City famously quipped, “I’ve been dating since I was 15, where is he?” This sentiment resonates with many of us who feel like we’re endlessly seeking something missing in our lives.

Life doesn’t just happen; it unfolds according to the mental patterns we cultivate, both consciously and unconsciously.

My therapist in NYC, Richard, used to illustrate this concept with the analogy of a pie. Some people see life as a full pie, while others perceive it as only half full. Those desperately seeking money might turn to playing the lottery, while job seekers knock on every available door. The common thread is the internal perspective of searching for what we believe we lack.

Reflecting on my own experiences, when I was younger and seeking a job, I didn’t merely hunt for any job; I envisioned and created a role for myself that would bring fulfillment. I acted as if I already had that job, attracting not only job offers but also opportunities to forge my own path and create businesses.

My message today is about cultivating within ourselves the qualities or circumstances we seek externally. Instead of passively searching, we should embody the traits we desire and proactively develop them. By doing so, we signal to the universe that we already possess what we’re looking for.

While concepts like the law of attraction and movies like The Secret often touch on similar themes, my perspective differs. It’s about fostering a proactive mindset and actively shaping our reality. If we seek “the one,” we must first recognize and nurture those qualities within ourselves, sending a clear message to the universe.

Life doesn’t just happen; it unfolds according to the mental patterns we cultivate, both consciously and unconsciously. I like to think of it as a “law of the mind in action.” If our mental pattern fixates on lack, like Charlotte’s search for love, that’s likely what we’ll attract. But if we adopt the belief that what we’re searching for is already within us, we’re more likely to manifest it.

To embody this mindset, we must genuinely engage with our desires and saturate our minds with positive thoughts and intentions. Through this process, our thoughts transform into tangible experiences, rewriting the narrative of our live
