Le Tapparelle ( the blinds)

The tapparella was the symbol of my summers growing up as a kid in Italy. It’s a type of shade typical of Italy, may be part of spain and Greece.

Not very pretty but effective. In my home my father was in charged of them, he would decided when to put them down and up. My dad was very heat intolerant so basically they were always down from June to September with an exception after sunset, so they were really marking the end and begging of school.

Despite the un cozinesses my father made me used to, since he was always wearing  shoes and a suit at home, the tapparelle made a cool summer light in my room. I could spy outside without been seen.

  1. I can never read all the books I want; I can never be all the people I want and live all the lives I want. I can never train myself in all the skills I want. And why do I want? I want to live and feel all the shades, tones and variations of mental and physical experience possible in my life. And I am horribly limited.
